Let's take a moment (if you have not already done so) and give homage to one of the great Civil Rights pioneers that passed away today. Dorothy Height, a heroine of the civil rights era, died at the age of 98. [story here].

Ms. Height was president of the National Council of Negro Women for four decades, from 1957 - 1997. She was a woman with vision.

She was the first person in the modern civil rights era to treat the rights of African Americans and the rights of women as the same. She sought to bridge the gap of separation and wished to provide equal rights for all.

President Obama spoke today about the passing of Ms. Height, and called her “the godmother of the civil rights movement and a hero to so many Americans.”

May Ms. Height rest in peace.
